The Scandinavian Resource PagesOne of our goals at the Scandinavian Society of Nova Scotia is to develop interest in, and knowledge of, the culture, customs and traditions of the Scandinavian countries. Locally, we promote and teach about Scandinavian life by participating in the Multicultural Festival, held annually on the Dartmouth waterfront, and by sponsoring various other cultural events such as the visit of the "Islendingur" Viking ship to the Halifax waterfront in August, 2000. We also visit schools in the Halifax/Dartmouth area where we give presentations to help educate students about Scandinavia and Scandinavian life. The S.S.N.S. library contains a large selection of Scandinavian material available for loan including books and magazines printed in the Scandinavian languages, brochures on each Scandinavian country, videos, audio tapes, and CDs. Since the Society's web page first appeared in May 1999, we have posted information on our own site and links to other sites in order to provide people with as many ways of finding information about Scandinavia online as possible. Our wealth of knowledge has been steadily increasing over time and we hope that by looking through our resource pages, you will be able to find what you are looking for. If you have any questions, submissions or suggestions for items that we can include on our Scandinavian resource pages, please email them to Amy McKenzie, our webmaster. |
