Annual Events

Lenten (Palm/Easter) Service

This service is open to the general public and is usually held at the Grace Lutheran Church located at 40 Caldwell Road in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Please see the upcoming events page a month before the Easter period for service times.

Annual General Meeting

Each year we hold our annual general meeting for our members only (not open to the general public). In recent years we have had guest speakers that have included the following: Birgitta Ferguson (Vikings & L'anse Aux Meadows), Bjarni Tryggvason (Canadian Astronaut), and Lt. Governor J. James Kinley. Our Annual General Meetings are well attended, offering an evening of interest with a chance to socialize around a buffet of wine & Scandinavian cheeses. We often have a "Meet 'N Greet" after the meeting to welcome our new members to the Society.

Multicultural Festival Celebration

The Multicultural Festival Celebration is a three day festival that takes place on the Dartmouth waterfront (in Nova Scotia) every year in mid to late June. It is a major event incorporating dozens of local cultural groups including the Scandinavian Society of Nova Scotia. Volunteers for the event are much needed and greatly appreciated. If you would like to help the Society at this year's Multicultural Festival, please contact Raymond Laine.
